On October 11, 2023, Neo Financial was recognized with the Scaleup of the Year Award as part of the 2023 Start Alberta Tech Awards. The Scaleup of the Year award recognizes one of Alberta’s scaling/later-stage companies that is having a positive impact on the Alberta tech ecosystem.
Neo Financial is reinventing how Canadians spend, save, and grow their money. Founded in 2019 in Calgary, the company now employs over 800 employees. Neo Financial has shown tremendous growth in the past few years. Last year, it raised $185M CAD in its Series C fundraising round, earning it the coveted “unicorn” status.
“When people talk about Alberta, I say you have to come out and see it for yourself. Because there really is no other place that is so great to start a company, to scale a company, to call home and to raise a family,” said Jeff Adamson, Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships.
While the Calgary FinTech continues to scale in both revenue and employees, Neo is also working to attract and keep tech talent in the Alberta ecosystem. As the primary organizer of Tech Thursday, a weekly event to bring the Calgary tech community together, the events give exposure to smaller startups, space to network with senior peers and support professional development for Alberta’s tech talent.
With its commitment to diversity and inclusion within its own workforce and recruitment practices, Neo also supports a number of other community groups and initiatives including the 2023 Women Techmakers YYC conference as well as the upcoming Women in AI conference in Calgary.
